ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
Special recognition and thanks are extended to Flora Crater for her founding of The Woman Activist Fund, Inc., and The Almanac of Virginia Politics, and her strength of example and shining inspiration to both women and men, that an informed public is both necessary and possible.
The authors gratefully acknowledge the help of all who have assisted in the creation and production of this edition. The bills and resolutions themselves, including the text, summary, and main votes are on the web at http://legis.state.va.us, as well as in hard copy in the 2002 Final Cumulative Index of Bills, Resolutions, Joint Resolutions and Documents, and the Summary, available from the Department of Legislative Services (804-698-1500). Election statistics are from the State Board of Elections at 804-786-6551 (or 800-552-9745) or on the web at http://www.sbe.state.va.us. Federal and state outlays of money are accessed through the Auditor of Public Accounts at http://www.apa.state.va.us or in hard copy. Campaign contributions and expenditures are filed with the State Board of Elections, and available through the Virginia Public Access Project (VPAP) at http://www.vpap.org. Economic interest forms filed annually, but not electronically as yet, are at the Offices of the Clerk of the House (804-698-1619); the Clerk of the Senate (804-698-7400); and the Secretary of the Commonwealth (804-786-2441). Media accounts are credited in the text of the book/web edition. Photos are in part reduced from those provided by the officials, and in part photo credits are given to Virginia Legislative Directory published by Verizon, and available at http://legis.state.va.us, along with contact information, biographical material, room numbers, and committees. A general web address for the Virginia state government is http://www.state.va.us.
The writing, editing, and production of The Almanac of Virginia Politics was a cooperative effort. This includes The Woman Activist Fund, Inc., and its Board of Directors: Flora Crater, President; Anne Morrow Donley, Vice President/Secretary; Jeanne O’Hara, Treasurer; Jere Gibber; and Vivian Crater Gray. The three editors for this edition were Flora Crater, who also selected and compiled the Key Votes of the session, Anne Morrow Donley, and Jeanne O’Hara. The writers for this edition were Anne Morrow Donley, Jeanne O’Hara, Michelle Prosser, Steve Evans, Holly Hambley, and Anne Paschke. Donley also compiled the election results, campaign expenditures and contributions for the elections, summarized the financial disclosure forms for all 140 legislators and the three statewide officials, and the mailing list. Janet Hunt assisted with the final layout and the covers. Sarah Hague did the sorting and filing. Amy Littrell Donley proofed the text. Elfriede Heidleberg and Anne Morrow Donley completed the indexing. Clark S. Donley provided the expertise necessary to enable this publication to remain in the ranks of desk-top publishing. Martha Boyle, now deceased, first designed the roses in the web graphics and the wreath of flowers which has encircled each edition of this publication since 1977. We also extend our thanks to past editors: Carolyn Weston Brickey, Elizabeth Vantrease, Meg Williams, Elizabeth Muriel Smith, Cathy Danford, Joanna Rubin, and Pat Fishback.
Thanks are also extended to Cynthia Manuel for her web design. Thanks to Anne Morrow Donley for transferring the book material to the web. Thanks also to Chris Hicks of Flamingo Internet Navigators for hosting this site and making it possible.
